The Customized Employment Career Coach supports complex clients in their job search, facilitating work experiences, community attachments, and paid employment opportunities. This role involves building employer relationships, sourcing placements, and providing follow-up support to ensure client success in the workplace.

This contract position is 40 hours per week located at the WorkBC Maple Ridge office. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm and requires occasional evening shifts until 6:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Opportunity
The Customized Employment Career Coach supports complex clients in their job search, facilitating work experiences, community attachments, and paid employment opportunities. This role involves building employer relationships, sourcing placements, and providing follow-up support to ensure client success in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct complex client needs assessments that include physical, developmental, cognitive, and social and emotional barriers;
• Refer and interpret specialized assessments including medical assessment reports, Psychological and Vocational, Learning Disability, Neuropsychological, and Functional Capacity;
• Complete Client Discovery, Employment Profile and next steps action plans;
• Refer clients to community partners for additional supports and assistive technology solutions when required;
• Assist with Occupational Skills Training applications or Short-Term Occupational Training ( STOC );
• Analyze labour market trends to identify opportunities;
• Promote WorkBC services to employers and community stakeholders and highlight customized wage subsidies;
• Create and support unpaid work experiences, community attachments, and job placements;
• Provide job search and career planning assistance;
• Provide ongoing support to promote job sustainment.
Community Engagement:
• Represent WorkBC at community events;
• Assist with organization and promotion of specialized events such as hiring fairs.
Teamwork:
• Participate in regular team meetings, strategic planning and program review sessions as scheduled;
• Foster positive, productive working relationships and work collaboratively to contribute to a positive work environment based on mutual respect.
• Keep detailed client and employer notes to track activities and progress as required by Douglas College and the Funder;
• Maintain accurate records and ensure information is entered into ICM as per WorkBC policy;
• Review client progress outcomes against performance targets and contribute strategies to ensure program targets are met;
• Submit activity and progress reports to project CCSP as requested;
• Work to Training Group's Quality Management System, ISO9001:2015 standard;
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

WHAT IT TAKES
To be Successful in this Role You will Need:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, employment and career counselling, vocational counselling certifications;
• Assessing complex client needs;
• Customized employment coaching and job development;
• Working with persons with disabilities;
• Conducting Disability-Related Needs Assessments ( DRENA ) and interpreting Specialized Assessments or clinical assessments is preferred;
• Identifying Assistive Technology solutions for Persons with Disabilities;
• Building partnerships with stakeholders and employers.
• Current local labour market knowledge across a range of industry sectors;
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proven ability to successfully work within a multi-faceted program, and meet targets and deadlines;
• Ability to adjust to a flexible schedule;
• Access to a car and a BC Driver's License is mandatory;
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check.
