JOB OPPORTUNITY

Position Information

Location Langley Salary Range
$30.30 to $32.80 per hour. Salary is based on education and experience.
The Opportunity
Representing Douglas College at the Langley WorkBC Centre, the Resource Centre Advisor ( RCA ) will coordinate and organize all resource information. The RCA will assist Career Coaches with conducting intake interviews to help Clients achieve and maintain sustainable labour market attachments.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Assist with greeting clients and visitors, answer queries and direct appropriately;
    • Assist clients with using Centre computers and troubleshooting problems when required;
    • Assist drop-in clients with job search and career planning needs, including resume and cover letter creation and online job posting applications;
    • Assist Self-Serve and drop in clients with accessing Job Start;
    • Receive and review applications for services from the Online Employment Services Portal;
    • Evaluate client needs in accordance with Work BC guidelines to determine employment readiness and need for case managed services;
    • Complete reports as per the requirement of the Langley WorkBC Centre and submit to the Langley Centre Manager;
    • Promote Client feedback through our online Client Survey;
    • Participate in weekly team meetings and community outreach;
    • Work to Training Group's Quality Management System, ISO9001:2015 standard; and
    • Miscellaneous as required.

WHAT IT TAKES
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED :

    • Post-Secondary degree, in employment services related field or equivalent level of education, qualifications and experience;
    • Certified Career Development Practitioner ( CCDP ) Certification considered an asset;
    • Demonstrated ability to meet performance based targets;

Experience:

    • Providing customer service and resolving issues in person & virtual service delivery environment;
    • Interpreting & applying policy or legislation;
    • Conducting & interpreting client needs assessments;
    • Working with individuals with complex barriers and a wide range of cultural backgrounds;
    • Using on-line reporting and communication portals/databases;


In Addition:

    • Commitment to continuous learning and development;
    • Ability to exhibit respect for clients, client diversity, and community partners;
    • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-based work environment with shifting priorities and duties;
    • Excellent computer skills: MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing;
    • Proven ability to facilitate workshops as well as deliver presentations to a variety of audiences - an asset;
    • Knowledge of local labour market and labour market trends;
    • Knowledge of Employment Program of BC and its mandate;
    • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check.


Preferred Certifications:

    • Career Development Practitioner;
    • MBTI certificate;
    • Personality Dimensions;
    • Job Club Leader.
Additional Information
40 hours per week. Must be able to work variable shifts which will include some evenings (until 6:30pm) and on occasion Saturdays (10am-3pm).

Location is the Langley WorkBC Centre.
