Job Description

Horizon Recruitment Inc. has been engaged to identify an executive leader for a large-scale enterprise in Western Canada undergoing a significant supply chain transformation.

This role will work closely with the executive leadership team, internal stakeholders and Vendors to drive strategic sourcing, category management, and business improvement initiatives while leading a small team of procurement professionals.

The role includes accountability for a high-paced procurement team, with a focus on technology sourcing projects, including IT consulting services and software procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive change related to processes, market research, relationship management, reporting, and risk management within the category management and strategic sourcing groups.
  • Develop and implement category strategies, including sourcing major software vendors and service providers for company-wide technology implementations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract implementation.
  • Advise the senior leadership team on strategic growth initiatives, leveraging industry trends and market intelligence.
  • Manage complex sourcing processes, operationalize contracts, and ensure compliance with sourcing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, external consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure proactive contract administration, lifecycle management, and supplier performance oversight.
  • Support multi-year planning and category management programs to optimize procurement and supplier engagement.
  • Mentor and develop supply chain staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, operations, engineering, or a related field.
  • MBA, SCMP certification or an equivalent supply chain management certification is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or contract management, preferably in the technology sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in structured category management and strategic sourcing processes, including multi-step procurement strategies and complex negotiations.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale technology sourcing projects, managing complex, multi-year agreements.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to assess market trends, and make data-driven sourcing recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to present to senior executives.
  • Knowledge of both private and public sector procurement best practices and supplier management techniques.
  • Experience leading change and influencing cross-functional teams to drive business transformation.

Rewards:

  • Competitive total rewards package based on candidate experience delivering transformation projects within procurement operations. $150,000 base for qualified candidates.
