The Criminology and Legal Studies Department at Douglas College is seeking applicants for regular full-time probationary faculty position(s) for Criminology and Legal studies courses for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The Role
The Criminology and Legal Studies Department at Douglas College is seeking applicants for regular full-time probationary faculty position(s) for Criminology and Legal studies courses for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Responsibilities
•Applicants should have demonstrated experience in, and commitment to,
undergraduate teaching.
•The successful candidate will instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate
student progress in College courses.
•The successful candidate will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and
resources, provide academic advice to learners, and provide learner-centered
instruction.
•The successful candidate will participate in Department meetings, committees, and
other department initiatives.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Applicants will meet the following criteria:
Applications of those who seek appointment to teach Criminology courses (apart from law courses) will be evaluated using the following criteria:
•an MA in Criminology or a relevant related discipline (with thesis) from a Canadian university, or an MA in Criminology or a relevant related discipline (with thesis) and demonstrated experience or research/publication in the Canadian criminal justice system is required
•PhD in Criminology or a relevant related discipline (with dissertation) from a Canadian university, or a PhD in Criminology or a relevant related discipline (with dissertation) and demonstrated experience or research/publication in the Canadian criminal justice system is preferred OR;
•Currently enrolled in a PhD program in relevant field, with an anticipated completion date no later than the end of the 2-year probationary period.
•relevant work related experience in the Criminal Justice field is preferred;
•applicants will also demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate courses across the Criminology curriculum (apart from law courses).
•Demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in Criminology .
•an LLB /JD degree from a Canadian, American or other Commonwealth university common law program is required;
•current or past membership in a Canadian Law Society is required;
•legal practice experience is required;
•demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate Criminology and/or Legal Studies courses is preferred;
•relevant professional experience in or relating to the Canadian criminal justice system is preferred;
•an LLM (with thesis) or Doctorate (with dissertation) in Law from a Canadian, American or other Commonwealth university common law program is preferred.
