Líĺwat Nation is a progressive First Nation whose traditional territory encompasses Whistler and Pemberton, BC. With a membership of over 2,200 people, approximately 1,650 of whom live in the community, the Líĺwat Nation is the third largest First Nation in British Columbia. The Nation is striving towards self-determination for, and by, its citizens by continuing to exert control over its Traditional Territory and resources. With economic development focused on land and resource management, Líĺwat Nation is building the economic foundation for a sustainable community by exploring opportunities in retail, forestry, agriculture, energy projects and construction.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. The Manager's role and duties ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and best practices. This Manager reviews operating procedures, company controls, and compliance measures to determine potential hazards or breaches of conduct. In addition, this position provides various support to the Directors, as required.

The Financial Reporting Manager will work with the Director of Finance and Finance Manager to manage the preparation of monthly departmental and consolidated financial statements, also work with the Director to prepare Monthly and Quarterly reports in accordance with the Lil’wat Nation Financial Administration Law and Finance Policy. They will play a key role in updating and developing a new financial reporting framework with the General Ledger.

This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity for a finance professional who is dedicated to developing and maintaining relationships with members of the Líĺwat Nation community. The ideal candidate will have experience working across government agencies and an appreciation for the Líĺwat Nation culture, values, traditions, and language. The successful candidate will have a minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant accounting and financial analysis experience.  A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required and a CPA is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

The salary range for this role is $59,878 - $73,564 annually, based on working 35 hours/week. Supplemented by a competitive total compensation package. (medical benefits are 100% covered and pension contribution is matched at 7%) This position is full time and based onsite.
