Job Description
North Island College (the College) is honoured to acknowledge the traditional territories of the combined 35 First Nations of the Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish peoples, on who’s traditional and unceded territories the College’s campuses are situated. The College is committed to working collaboratively with Indigenous communities to develop and deliver unique programming that incorporates Indigenous knowledge, language, and culture.
Established in 1975, the College brings education and training as a comprehensive community college that focuses on student success. Located in a spectacular West Coast setting, the College proudly serves more than 9,000 students annually across four campuses, a learning centre, and through online and in- community learning. Over the past 49 years, more than 170,000 people have taken a course or completed a program at the College.
About the RoleReporting to the Dean, Faculty of Trades and Technical Programs, the Associate Dean is responsible for the effective management of the College's multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary Trades and Technical programs across multiple campuses and in-community. The Associate Dean is accountable for program portfolios and functional tasks as identified by the Dean including, but not limited to, program development, planning and implementation; workload planning and management; budget development and monitoring; proposal development; program development, credentialing, and review; faculty workload planning and management; management functions that facilitate successful working relationships with faculty, staff, industry, communities, and college administration and supporting Campbell River campus matters as needed. The Associate Dean provides innovative and collegial leadership and possesses a high level of commitment to partnership development, excellence in teaching and pedagogy, and a proven ability to progressively develop and operationalize new programming and sustained student initiatives.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, along with five years of progressive academic leadership and management experience in post-secondary education. In addition, a Red Seal designation is preferred (industrial, construction, or motive power). The Associate Dean will have demonstrated experience as a strategic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented leader committed to program excellence and student success working with faculty, staff, community, and industry to support programming within a culture of inclusion and innovation.
The salary for this position is based on administrative pay grade 14 ($103,214 - $158,621), supplemented by a generous total compensation and benefits package. Salary will be determined commensurate with experience.
