Organizational Profile

The South Island Division of Family Practice (the Division) provides ongoing professional support for Family Physicians, and the best health care possible for residents of the South Island. Together, South Island Division members work to improve patient care, increase local physicians' influence on health care delivery and policy and strengthen the community for family physicians. This collaborative and innovative approach to health care strengthens family practice and patient care in South Island communities. We represent Family Physicians in the Saanich Peninsula (Royal Oak/Cordova Bay, Prospect Lake, Central Saanich, North Saanich and Sidney) and the Western Communities (Colwood, Langford/Highland, Esquimalt/View Royal, Metchosin, Sooke and Juan de Fuca Coast.) We are a membership-based, not-for-profit society.

About the Role

This is an ambitious and dynamic opportunity for a non-profit leader who brings a demonstrated commitment to and passion for community-based primary care, community engagement, and member services. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic and organizational abilities with excellent interpersonal, operational, and community engagement abilities. The preferred candidate will have post-secondary education in a relevant program area or field, complemented by five (5) or more years of non-profit leadership and management experience. A combination of education, competencies, and experience will also be considered.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director has direct oversight of operations including organizational leadership, financial management, member programming and engagement, and day-to-day operations. The Executive Director builds and maintains strong relationships with the Board, staff, health care providers, local health authority, government, and the broader community with a demonstrated commitment to improving the health system and care for patients. The Division helps implement Primary Care Networks (PCNs) across our four communities, a primary care initiative between our Division, local First Nations, and Vancouver Island Health Authority. In this capacity, the Executive Director provides leadership, supervision, and mentoring to Division staff including those directly engaged with the PCN.

The salary for this position is $156,741.00 supplemented by a competitive total compensation package. This position is an in-person role with some flexibility to be virtual, based in the local communities. Travel may be required across the region as well as to provincial meetings. A valid driver’s license and access to a car is required. Work during early mornings or evenings may be required, based on our members’ availability.
