Salary Range: $71,846.00 - $115,129.00 per annum. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Science & Technology is seeking a Coordinator for their Geo-Resources Diploma Program.

WHAT IT TAKES
Requirements for the role are:

    • MSc. in the Geological Sciences or equivalent degree in science, environmental science, or applied science;
    • Teaching experience at college or university level;
    • Experience in the mineral industry, the environmental industry, research, and/or fieldwork would be an asset;
    • Experience with curriculum development;
    • Strong interpersonal skills with students, staff, faculty;
    • Proven ability to problem solve day to day issues;
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with faculty on Department wide issues;
    • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and to work independently on projects;
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The primary functions of the GRDP Program Coordinator are to:

    • Coordinate all aspects of the Geo-Resources Diploma Program ( GRDP ) administrative (admissions and graduating) requirements.
    • Coordinate transfer options and related articulation issues for the GRDP courses.
    • Maintain and liaise with the GRDP Advisory Committee.
    • Advise GRDP students on academic and career pathways.
    • Promote the GRDP to students both internally and externally to the College.
The job duties and tasks include:


    • Administration:

      • Admissions: Provide advice on admissions to the GRDP to Enrolment Services as needed; set intake limits in consultation with the Dean.
      • Academic Standard Monitoring: annually review transcripts of all students in the GRDP to ensure they meet all academic requirements (i.e., maintain appropriate GPA and minimum course load); make recommendations for continuation in program or change of status (e.g., re-assigning to part-time status).
      • In collaboration with the Chair of EAES , manage articulation related to GRDP courses.
      • Work with the EAES Department Chair to schedule GRDP courses.
      • Consult with the Dean and the EAES department about lab equipment needs for the GRDP .
      • Ensure effective communication and liaison with the Dean and other College administrators, including submission of required reports on a timely basis.
      • Perform other related duties and/or special studies as required by the Dean.

    • Marketing/Promotion:

      • Ensure that calendar copy, web site, program brochures and all other advertising material are kept accurate and up to date.
      • Work with the Marketing and Communications Office ( MCO ) for promotion of the program.
      • Connect with appropriate members of the community, including regional secondary schools, to enhance and promote the program.
      • Attend College Information sessions.
      • Promote the GRDP through information talks in EAES classes.
      • Respond to student queries (phone/email/in-person) about the program requirements and benefits.

    • Program support:

      • Ensure curriculum guidelines for GRDP -specific courses are current and changes proceed through the governance process.
      • Update and make revisions to the program (including possible development of new courses) as needed to maintain currency and relevance.
      • Monitor and make revisions as needed to field-trip and field-school activities, in keeping with College policies; participate in the development of related College policies as needed.
      • Work with the Co-op Office to arrange co-op placements for interested GRDP students.

    • Student Support:

      • Respond to student queries about the program and its requirements.
      • Deal with questions and concerns from students in the program, and refer students to the Dean where necessary.
      • Maintain an email list of students in the GRDP .
      • Monitor student progress through program, providing program advice as needed.
      • Provide students with information on careers and summer job opportunities.

    • Advisory Committee:

      • Organize regular meetings of the GRDP PAC in accordance with College Policy to report on program status and initiatives and solicit advice for program maintenance and improvement.
      • Communicate updates to the advisory committee as needed throughout the year.
      • Recruit new members to the advisory committee as needed.
Additional Information
This limited-term faculty coordinator position will run from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026, with possible extension to July 31, 2028. The position carries a two-section time release for the 2025/2026 academic year. This position may require travel between the New Westminster and Coquitlam campuses.
