Job Description

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is currently working with a large, complex organization with a wide variety of holdings across North America and Europe to seek a detail-oriented and analytical Director, Operational Accounting to join their finance team. Leading a team of 10+, you will be responsible for all accounting of the operational side of the business funneling up to the corporate level where it gets consolidated.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CFO in managing and overseeing the group’s shared services teams and the reporting of operational outcomes for the group.
  • Work in partnership with the FP&A team to prepare and share period-end financial reports (P&Ls) for leaders across various business units and functions. This will involve ensuring key stakeholders, from local management to business unit presidents, have the financial information they need for well-informed decision-making.
  • Provide comprehensive accounting services, financial reporting, and support to relevant business units, local management, and senior leadership teams.
  • Ensure the accurate maintenance and review of balance sheet reconciliations relevant to the responsibilities of the Operational Accounting team.
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller to ensure the group’s accounting processes are carried out efficiently and with appropriate internal controls, guaranteeing accurate financial reporting with no material misstatements.
  • Collaborate with other Directors to oversee the timely and effective completion of period-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, ensuring accurate and timely financial reports are delivered to both internal and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors and financial partners).
  • Review existing processes to identify areas for improvement and develop, implement, and monitor financial controls.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, performing additional accounting tasks as required.
  • Assist the CFO and senior leadership with special projects as needed.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement approach, seeking opportunities to enhance service quality, speed, automation, and eliminate redundancy, thus improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all finance functions and supporting the group’s overall business goals.

Requirements:

  • CPA or equivalent designation required.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting with 5+ in leadership
  • Strong understanding of consolidated financial reporting, GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to perform complex calculations and create detailed financial models.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments and levels of the organization.
  • Experience with external audits and regulatory compliance is a plus.

Rewards:

$165,000 - $175,000
