Job Summary

The Team

Join our Court Administration team at the Dawson Creek Law Courts, where a close-knit group of seven dedicated professionals works together to support the justice system. Our team includes both experienced members and newer staff, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. As part of this supportive group, you'll collaborate with court clerks and registry clerks to help ensure access to justice for our community. The Role

In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring smooth court and registry operations by managing procedures like opening and closing court, monitoring proceedings, and maintaining accurate records. You'll also assist the public and justice partners by providing vital information about filings, policies, and procedures across various channels. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a range of justice professionals, including the Judiciary, RCMP, Crown Counsel, and Sheriffs, while gaining in-depth knowledge of Provincial and Supreme Court operations in Criminal, Civil, and Family matters. Your work will directly support access to justice for all members of the community.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of one-year administrative support or customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one-year previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Keyboard speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Valid B.C. drivers' licence.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
  • Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
  • One year of previous work experience in a legal environment.

Provisos:
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
