Job Summary

The Team
The Accounting Operations Section provides a range of financial and accounting services to the ministry. The financial and accounting services provided include: pre-audit and processing of contracts and other payments; operation of financial services customer services help desk; administration of corporate credit cards (employee travel and purchase cards); primary liaison and response to Corporate Compliance and Controls Branch (3CMB); issuance and collection of accountable advances; delegation and administration of expense authority; coordination of bank accounts and other banking requirements including the supply of imprest cheques to Service Delivery Division offices; administration of revenue and recoveries including eligibility determination, billing and collection for federal payments as well as contributions from parental agreements; collection and recovery of payments due under loan programs; development, forecasting and monitoring of revenue and recoveries; administration of trust funds; ministry liaison with Solutions BC including Telus Sourcing Solutions (payroll services) and Corporate Accounting Services (CAS).

The Role
As an Accounts Payable Clerk in the Accounting Operations team, you will be directly working on the Ministry of Children and Family Development's (MCFD) Finance Help Desk. The Finance Help Desk provides tier 1 support for the Corporate Financial System (CFS) and is the first stop for finance-related inquiries from MCFD employees and the public. The Finance Help Desk is also responsible for supplier maintenance and other accounts payable administrative duties.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 and post-secondary courses in bookkeeping, accounting and business; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a complex accounts payable environment.
  • Experience in reconciling accounts.
  • Experience working in an office setting.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to two days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
