Job Summary

The Team

The North Production Insurance Team is an established group of nine full-time professionals, including management, administrative, and technical staff. As part of the Business Risk Management Branch (BRMB), this team collaborates closely with Production Insurance Representatives, technicians, administrators, and management across the branch. The team's work is vital in supporting BC's agricultural sector by providing risk management services through the Production Insurance program, helping stabilize the industry and protect producers from the impacts of severe weather and crop loss.

The Role

This role is responsible for delivering BRM programs and working closely with agricultural producers, focusing on exceptional customer service to ensure timely, accurate, and complete information. Acting as the key liaison between local producers and BRM support staff, the position promotes and oversees program activities, explains benefits and regulations, and assists producers with applications and eligibility. It also involves analyzing market data, calculating insurable values, and verifying claims. The work directly impacts the sustainability of BC's agricultural sector, offering producers a safety net against crop losses caused by unpredictable weather events like hail, drought, and flooding. Additionally, the role includes developing marketing strategies, supervising staff and contractors, and providing expert advice to resolve complex application issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in business, agricultural science or related field and a minimum of 2 years current, progressive and related experience OR
• A technical diploma in business, agricultural science or related field and a minimum of 4 years current, progressive and related experience OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience can include any one of the following:
• Direct farming experience.
• Experience with agricultural production or consultation.
• Experience in insurance or sales.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Direct experience with grain and/or forage crop production
