Job Description
New Ventures BC (NVBC) is a non-profit society with a mandate of supporting and recognizing early stage technology start-ups in British Columbia. We run the annual $250,000 New Ventures BC Competition, accelerator programs, AccelerateIP, and BC IP Strategy programs across BC.
We are a collaborative and agile team seeking a self-directed, creative, and digitally savvy, Communications & Digital Marketing Coordinator. The successful candidate will take on the digital marketing strategy and execution for the organization—this is an opportunity to work across all marketing touchpoints.
We are looking for someone with a broad range of marketing skills—both in vision and execution. A must is that you’re an excellent writer and have either experience or education working in digital marketing, content management, and marketing metrics.
Please note: This role is a one year employment contract with the chance of renewal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll contribute to NVBC’s marketing efforts, ensuring our programs and events reach the right audience while maintaining our brand voice. Responsibilities include:

Collaborating with NVBC’s Marketing Coordinator to develop and execute measurable marketing and communications strategies for our programs.

Managing and running successful ad campaigns on social media platforms and Google AdWords (experience with the Google not-for-profit platform is a bonus).

Creating and promoting digital content (written and visual) for our blog, newsletters, and other platforms.

Managing NVBC’s social media channels by attending events, creating content, and using tools like Hootsuite for scheduling.

Producing basic video content and editing for social media or YouTube.

Designing promotional graphics and collaborating with design teams when necessary.

Updating and maintaining our WordPress website, ensuring best practices for asset management and supporting the development of our new website.

Building a digital image bank of brand assets in collaboration with the team.

Attending in-person NVBC events as needed (some evening or occasional weekend availability required).
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

2–3 years of experience in a fast-paced environment, managing digital marketing projects, advertising, and/or content management.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in marketing, digital marketing, commerce, or a related field.

Education or hands-on experience running and analyzing digital campaigns, including Google AdWords and social media platforms.

Proficiency in tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Hootsuite, WordPress, Canva, InDesign, and Adobe/Photoshop, with the ability to learn new software quickly.

Basic to intermediate graphic design and video editing skills

Excellent writing skills with the ability to create engaging digital content (please provide blog or writing samples).

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

A proactive, self-directed approach to work, combined with strong collaboration skills to work effectively in a small team.

Problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

Experience in the non-profit, government, or tech industry (an asset but not required)
Compensation and Work culture:

Full time, one-year employment contract with the chance for renewal

Our team works 35-hour work week and enjoys half-day Fridays
-
60-67K per year based on experience

We offer three weeks of vacation plus a closure between Christmas and New Years.

This is a contract position, currently funded to Jan. 31, 2026, with the potential for extension, subject to funding availability.

Due to the nature of events, some evening and weekend work will be required and will be compensated with time off in lieu.

Our team members have a high degree of ownership. The role offers some flexibility for work hours with the focus on delivering what needs to be delivered to get the job done.

While we expect this role to work independently, we will provide on-going support to ensure success.

We are a hybrid team with an office in downtown Vancouver that we will work together from time to time in order to maximize collaboration.
