Classification: Full-time, Term (1 year leave replacement position)
Salary: $25.00 - $30.00
Location: Williams Lake, BC

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities which include ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yunesit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.
The Tŝilhqot’in Nation (Nation) is a world leader in advancing Indigenous rights and title, as demonstrated by the landmark Aboriginal Title Declaration from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. The Nation is currently implementing a ground-breaking tripartite framework agreement (Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement) with the goal of transforming, over the next 5 years, the fundamental relationships between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and the Federal and Provincial Crown governments.
The Tŝilhqot'in National Government is looking to hire an Engagement Coordinator to support the Tŝilhqot’in Nidlin team by building and implementing engagement plans, which meets the objectives set out by the Nidlin Advisory team. The Tŝilhqot’in Nidlin team is an initiative aimed towards self-governance and reclaiming jurisdiction over child and family matters under the Bill C-92 Federal legislation recognizing Indigenous governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and implementing communication strategic plan with the Tŝilhqot’in Nidlin team
- Working collaboratively with TNG’s Communication team
- Lead in content production, including website, social media, newsletters, pamphlets, notices, posters, informative materials, etc.
- Plan, organize, document and report on projects as assigned
- Prepare content for the TNG website, social media, presentations and other materials
- Research innovative solutions to communication issues
- Identify and assist in finding effective and innovative ways of engaging community members (including youth, elders, women,)
- Collaborative Communication, including teamwork & cooperation
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; including strong writing and facilitation skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to produce with minimal supervision
- Ability to work within diverse community and enhance cultural inclusion
- Ability to design, manage and deliver specific project
- Knowledge and effective use of social media platforms and technology
- Proficient in technology including software necessary to support position requirements
- Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines with high quality of product
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of related experience in the public or private sector (preferred)
- Experience with Indigenous communities (preferred)
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Excellent listener and ability to surmise key points from conversation.
- Ability to multi-task and work under shifting priorities and deadlines while maintaining a positive outlook and personable communication style
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
- Ability to attend Nation events

Working Conditions:
- Travel will be required
