Job Summary
The Team
The Regional Operations team in the Central Region is a dynamic group of nine dedicated professionals, including both seasoned members and new talent, working together to provide essential support for emergency planning and response. With a focus on collaboration, this team responds regularly to urgent situations, making a significant impact on the communities they serve in both the Central and Southeast regions. Additionally, the team often collaborates with seasonal auxiliary staff, enhancing their ability to address the diverse needs of the communities during critical times. We value teamwork and commitment to service, making this an exciting opportunity for applicants who are passionate about community support and emergency management.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree, diploma or training in emergency management, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline and a minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the last ten [10] years), related experience*; OR
- A minimum of four (4) years of recent (within the last ten [10] years), related experience*.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- *Related experience must include all of the following:
- Leading, managing or coordinating the delivery of emergency management or response-based programs.
- Developing relationships and providing expertise and guidance to key partners.
- Leading or providing direction to others (e.g., staff, team members, volunteers, etc.).
- Compiling information and preparing documents (e.g., reports, presentations, graphical materials, etc.) using standard and specialised technology to meet the information needs of multiple audiences.
Preference may be given to candidates with one (1) or more of the following:
- Education or training in emergency management.
- Experience making decisions regarding the allocation of financial resources.
- Experience supervising employees in a union environment.
Applicants must be willing and able to:
- Work on-call and work extended hours.
- Participate in operational deployments throughout the province.
- Frequent travel within the region (which may be remote) and travel outside the region.
- Fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
- Work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
- Travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodation may vary as required.
- Participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned.
- Have, or be able to immediately obtain, a valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or equivalent) that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
