The Team
Join the Chilcotin Fire Zone team, a diverse and established group of individuals committed to protecting the citizens of British Columbia. Comprised of 9 office and field staff alongside a dedicated 22-person unit crew, we work collaboratively in all aspects of wildfire management, including prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. The Role
As a Wildfire Technician in the Chilcotin Fire Zone, you will play a vital role in fire response and management, helping to keep our communities safe and resilient. Your work will focus on key areas such as wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, making a real difference in the lives of the citizens of British Columbia. Alexis Creek is surrounded by a vast amount of trails that allow the forest to be properly explored. Alexis Creek is known for activities such as snowmobiling, skiing, fishing, horseback riding and of course, hiking. There are multiple beautiful provincial parks surrounding Alexis Creek, such as Bull Canyon and Nazko Lake.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in a field related to forestry, resource management or equivalent knowledge, plus 1 year recent related experience; or
- Technical diploma in a field related to forestry, resource management, or equivalent knowledge, plus 3 years recent related experience; or
- Grade 12 plus 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training; and
- Related experience is defined as operations or other disciplines related to natural resource management
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated supervisory experience
- Valid class 5 driver licence
Preference statement(s)
- Preference may be given to candidates with Incident Commander 5 or higher.
- Preference may be given to candidates with a technical diploma in a field related to forestry or resource management
Provisos /Willingness statement(s)
- To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures
- To keep current on emerging issues
- To take in-house training and certification as required
- To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required
- To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
- To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required
- To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned
- To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions
- To obtain and maintain certification and training for position to meet operational requirements
