Job Summary

The Team
The Oliver Osoyoos Similkameen teams covers the areas including Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Princeton. We are part of the Integrated Child and Youth team for SD53. Our team consists of 4 generalist clinicians, a specialist Infant Mental Health Clinician, a specialist High Intensity Outreach Clinician and a Mental Health Support Worker. The team has strong relationships in the community and spend a lot of time in outreach at the schools or other community settings.

The Role
The High Risk/Outreach Clinician provides short term, intensive clinical services including risk assessment, safety planning, crisis intervention and stabilization care plans for children and youth experiencing acute mental health challenges. The High Risk/Outreach Clinician provides urgent mental health care in community, using an integrated service approach, to reduce the need for hospitalization and provide aftercare to help clients return home to community from inpatient services. The High Risk/Outreach Clinician works closely with families and caregivers to support the implementation of treatment recommendations and the day-to-day care and supervision of children and youth experiencing acute mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • One year or more of experience providing services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges and problematic substance use.
  • Experience providing services utilizing an outreach model.
  • Experience providing services utilizing a strength-based case management model and multi-disciplinary wrap around services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
This position is part time (0.6 FTE, 42 hours biweekly).

This position has full time on-site requirements.This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Children & Family Development offices: Keremeos, Oliver, Osoyoos
