Who- the Company: 
Our client is a not-for-profit values-based organization that provides essential programs and services to the communities they support. The organization currently has approximately 400 employees and has a growing People & Culture department which includes the Payroll & Benefits function.

What- the Role:
Our client seeking a new Payroll & HRIS Assistant for their Payroll team.  The Payroll Assistant will report directly to the Senior Manager, Payroll & Benefits and will work closely with the Payroll Specialist on the team, as well as with other HR colleagues in employee relations, recruitment, compensation, HR projects, etc. This is a well-rounded junior-to-intermediate level payroll position involving processing payroll, timecard verification, answering payroll related questions from employees, inputting data into the HRIS and extracting data and reports from the HRIS, benefits administration, etc. The organization has a payroll of approximately 400 people and it is almost entirely BC-based, almost entirely-salaried, and non-unionized. They are on a bi-weekly payroll schedule. Although most employees are salaried, the organization uses timecards to track and compensate for overtime. SWIM will provide interested candidates with a thorough job description.

Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for an individual with at least 2 years of relevant experience working on a payroll team.  Experience working in a relevant sector is highly preferred- i.e. Government, NPO, and/or public sector. Qualified candidates will have experience supporting a similar BC-based salaried payroll (i.e. 300 to 600 people). Some form of relevant education is required (a degree, certificate, diploma, PCP certification, etc.). Hands-on experience using an HRIS and/or payroll system is important and we are looking for candidates who are confident using technology (especially MS Office Suite including Excel and SharePoint). Qualified candidates will have the ability to track payroll data and understand what that data means for the business. Candidates will have a friendly, clear, and professional communication style, and will have a caring and compassionate approach.

How Much:
Base salary is commensurate with payroll skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $50,000 to $57,000. Please note that although the base salary is not very high, the overall compensation package is very generous- the Payroll Assistant will be on a Pension Plan, will receive a competitive amount of paid time off (vacation days, personal days, sick days, extra time off in late December), and will also get payroll-relevant professional development support, great health & dental benefits (100% employer paid), overtime compensation (x1.5 rate, paid out or banked as time-off-in-lieu), and a small transit subsidy.

Where:
HYBRID. The company is headquartered in Surrey, very close to a Skytrain station. There is parking nearby. The Payroll Assistant will work from the office 4 or 5 days a week during the initial few weeks or months of training and onboarding. Longer term, once they are full trained, the Payroll Assistant can start to work from home up to 2 days a week.
