Job Summary 

The Manager, Systems Management and Cybersecurity is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance and security of the University technological infrastructure. The Manager plays a critical role in managing core systems and services while integrating cybersecurity protocols to protect University data and resources. By maintaining IT infrastructure security, reliability and performance, the role contributes to the institution's ongoing technological advancement.

The Manager leads and manages a cross-functional team responsible for administering and maintaining core systems, ensuring consistent service levels and system reliability.  They determine organizational risk, and lead remediation actions and strategies to address and reduce those risks. 

The Manager directs troubleshooting and follow up validation measures. They contribute to business continuity by confirming that backup and disaster recovery processes are in place and tested regularly.

The Manager ensures the security of university systems by assisting and coordinating with the cybersecurity team and the Director of Information Security conducting confidential investigations and providing findings to the Director Information Security.  The Incumbent drafts Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) for new applications and systems, determining if privileged data is processed, assessing associated risks, and recommending appropriate controls.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, or Information Technology, Cybersecurity.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in IT systems management with at least two (2) years supervisory experience and two (2) years of cybersecurity responsibilities.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) considered an asset.

  • Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM).

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or similar.

  • Five years of experience with on-premises cloud hybrid enterprise infrastructure.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office 365 technologies including migrations and on-boarding activities.

  • Excellent knowledge of Azure technologies.

  • Business training and/or certification (ITIL, Scrum/Agile), preferred.

  • Extensive experience with desktop and server operating systems.

  • Strong technical understanding and ability to keep up to date with rapidly changing market trends.

  • Strong decision-making skills and leadership.

  • Demonstrated collaborative and consultative team management skills.

  • Ability to lead, coach, mitigate interpersonal conflicts, and direct staff in continuous improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong team-building skills and a collaborative and consultative style.

  • Excellent analytical skills and an ability to solve problems creatively.

  • Client-services oriented with demonstrated listening and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as required.

  • Ability to work at any UFV campus based on operational needs.
