Job Summary

The Team
The Strategic Initiatives Branch consists of 2 teams with 13 staff members that leads and manages Health Data Platform BC which is a secure cloud-based platform designed for data research and analysis. Both teams work very closely with 2 additional contracted teams including members from international analytics service providers supporting the platform build and operation. The Data and Analysis Team is responsible for data engineering (metadata management, ELT pipelines and data quality enhancement) as well as analysis user experience improvement (platform enhancement and analytics guidance on platform use, data issues and coding best practices).

The Role
The Data Architect will be responsible for design of data engineering solutions for the Health Data Platform BC, which will include master data design, referential integrity validation and cataloguing reusable derived data objects, while working in partnership with the delivery teams and other areas within the division that provide operational support to the platform. The position will also be responsible to liaison with health organization partners and other data contributors to build and streamline data ELT pipeline operations as well as investigate and resolve data quality issues that hamper analysts use of data. In addition, this position will support HDPBC project analysts by providing platform and tool use guidance as well as assistance with coding complex queries and using tools like Pytorch and Tensorflow in package libraries CRAN, Python, Anaconda and imported repositories from GitHub and Hugging FFce.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science related field and 2 years of *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a computer science related field and 3 years *related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a computer science related field and 4 years *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience includes ALL of the following:
  • Experience in data modelling and/or data analysis techniques including record linkage (this includes demonstrated knowledge of relational database systems, data management principles, and/or structured analysis and design).
  • Demonstrated experience using coding tools like SQL, R and Python within the last two years.


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Health sector experience.
  • More years of related experience.
