Job Summary

The Team
The Strategic Planning and Marketing (SPAM) team is a newly formed group leading public health communication efforts through social media, mass marketing, and health promotion campaigns. The team, led by a Director and supported by a senior marketing strategist and two policy analysts, is committed to creating a trusted, impactful platform for health literacy and prevention. With a focus on inclusivity, SPAM values collaboration across all levels of the division and is passionate about driving innovation and positive change in public health through a diverse and agile approach.

The Role
The Policy Analyst is instrumental in building and promoting the HealthyBC brand across social media and web platforms, crafting innovative strategies to increase awareness and engagement. You'll manage large-scale marketing projects, create visual presentations, and draft policy communications, all while synthesizing research and public health data. This position offers the chance to make a real impact by providing reliable public health information to citizens. You'll work in a creative and supportive environment, with the freedom to be ambitious and flexible as you help shape the future of public health communication.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Public Administration, or Health Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years recent, related experience OR
  • Diploma in Business or Public Administration, or Health Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years recent, related experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be considered.


Recent, related experience must include 1 year or more in each of the following:
  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components as part of a project team.
  • Experience establishing and managing collaborative relationships (e.g. partners).
  • Experience composing written materials such as executive briefing materials, project charters, planning documents, presentations, speaking notes and reports, project evaluation documents, treasury board submissions, cabinet submissions, or service plans.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Those who identify as Indigenous (e.g., First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
  • Professional or volunteer experience with First Nations or Inuit communities, Métis Chartered Communities, and/or Indigenous organizations.
  • Professional, volunteer or lived experience with equity issues involving systemically marginalized people.
  • Experience working in population and public health.
  • Graduate degree in Business or Public Administration or Health Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field.
