Housing Indigenous Youth intern

Classification:  Full time, Term (October 1, 2024 - May 30, 2025) Position may be extended.

Salary:              $19.00 per hour

Location:          Williams Lake, BC

Deadline:         Until filled

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.

The Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG) has partnered with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) as part of the CMHC Housing Internship for Indigenous Youth program (HIIY).  This position aims to provide Indigenous youth skills training to help contribute to the improvement of housing outcomes in communities and enable their pursuit of long-term employment in the housing sector.  Applicants must be between the age of 17 – 30 years of age, and indigenous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data entry and software management
  • Creation of presentations/reports/graphs
  • Assist in data collection for all 6 Tŝilhqot'in communities
  • Help plan for events and meetings
  • General Administrative and office duties as directed by the Housing & Infrastructure Manager, and Housing & Infrastructure Senior Support

Requirements

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work methodically and accurately, with attention to detail
  • Possess interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Able to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Proven ability to conduct research

 

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
  • Overtime as required
  • Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required
