Fund Accountant

Job Description
My client, a well-respected not-for-profit organization in downtown Vancouver, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fund Accountant to join their team. This organization is committed to making a positive impact in the community, and they are looking for a finance professional who shares their passion for service.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee fund accounting, ensuring accurate allocation and tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Prepare financial statements and reports, including fund balance reconciliations and grant tracking.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with donor and grant restrictions, government regulations, and internal policies.

Work closely with program managers to provide financial insights and reports on fund usage.

Assist in preparing audit schedules and liaise with external auditors as needed.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to restricted and unrestricted funds.

Maintain financial records and documentation for funding sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of fund accounting experience, preferably in a not-for-profit organization.

Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles, including donor restrictions and grant accounting.

Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Proficiency in accounting software (experience with NetSuite or similar systems is a plus).

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

CPA designation is not required, but candidates with extensive relevant experience will be preferred.
