Job Description
Duties:
Instruct all levels of Foundation and Apprenticeship technical training. This will include theory presentation and shop instruction.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.
Required Qualifications:
Three to five years demonstrated teaching or industry training experience or appropriate combination of above, including some supervisory experience. Electrician Interprovincial Certification with having served a four-year apprenticeship and has a minimum of five years proven journeyman status working on a broad range of building projects. Must have recent experience working with and interpreting the Electrical Code. Proven participation in trade related professional development relating to new technologies, new industry/instructional developments and trends, and supervisory experience. Proven classroom management ability. Willingness to work as part of a team. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. A high level of energy and enthusiasm is essential. Proven positive interpersonal skills in dealing with students. Sensitivity to the needs of a wide variety of adult students returning to education. Ability to work as part of a team comprised of instructors, administrators and support staff. Familiarity with computer applications appropriate to an educational setting.
Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.
