As a tight-knit and growing team based in the vibrant Innovation Center in downtown Kelowna, BC, we're seeking a dynamic individual to join our leadership team as we continue to expand.

The Role

Let's cut to the chase - we're looking for someone with exceptional leadership and strategic vision. You will be accountable for driving engineering excellence and aligning technology initiatives with business goals. If this sounds like you, keep reading. This role is full time, Monday - Friday. We are a hybrid work environment with 3 days a week in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) with optional remote days (Wednesday, Friday). There is potential for this to be a remote position but we have a preference for you to be located in the Kelowna area and be able to reliably commute into the office downtown Kelowna in the Innovation Center.

Salary Range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000

Your Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Engineering at Minga will be responsible for leading the engineering team, managing the product release schedule, and ensuring that all engineering processes are efficient and effective. This role focuses on optimizing product development, overseeing the quality of the engineering output, and ensuring that Minga's products meet and exceed user expectations. The VP of Engineering will work closely with the VP of Technology to align engineering initiatives with the company's strategic goals. Key responsibilities include:
    •Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Build a high-performing engineering team by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent. •Product Release Management: Oversee the product release schedule to ensure timely delivery of new features and products. Coordinate with Product Management to prioritize projects and align engineering efforts with business goals. •Engineering Processes: Develop, implement, and continuously improve engineering processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure best practices are followed in coding standards, testing, and deployment. •Product Quality: Ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality. Implement rigorous testing and quality assurance processes to identify and address defects early in the development cycle. •Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Technology to ensure that product performance, security, and reliability are built into the engineering process. Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support to gather feedback and ensure alignment with customer needs. •Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and promote their adoption to enhance Minga's products. •Resource Management: Manage the engineering budget and resources, ensuring that projects are completed within scope, time, and cost constraints. Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and priorities. •Risk Management: Identify potential risks in product development and devise strategies to mitigate them. Ensure that the engineering team is prepared to handle challenges and resolve issues efficiently.

Your Qualifications
    •Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or additional leadership training is a plus. •7-10 years of leadership experience, including managing engineering teams at the Director level or higher, with a strong track record in high-growth environments. •Skilled at using data-driven insights to shape engineering strategies, optimize processes, and enhance performance. •Strong analytical skills for diagnosing technical challenges, developing innovative solutions, and executing them effectively. •Proven ability to manage large-scale projects with competing priorities, ensuring timely delivery and high standards. •Excellent communicator, able to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences and foster cross-functional collaboration. •Adept at managing, mentoring, and developing engineering talent, creating high-performing teams that thrive in a dynamic environment. •Strategic thinker who aligns engineering goals with business vision, balancing short-term and long-term priorities. •Proficient in implementing best practices like Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps to boost team productivity and delivery. •History of cultivating an engineering culture that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. •Strong business acumen, partnering with executives to drive company success, focusing on efficiency and growth.
