Job Summary

The Team

We are a multi-disciplinary team comprised of mental health clinicians, a psychologist, family physicians, pediatricians, a psychiatrist, dieticians, and a administrative support staff. Our multi-disciplinary team works together to make a positive impact on children, youth, adults, and families in the greater Victoria area. We work collaboratively to provide evidence-based treatment to those throughout the lifespan that are struggling with an eating disorder. We collaborate with community partners in supporting those to access the right service at the right time often partnering with other programs, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to meet the unique needs of those we service in the south island. The Eating Disorder team values diversity, professionalism, ongoing professional development, and collaborative planning.

The Role
In this role, as a Mental Health Clinician you will provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children, youth, adults, and families struggling with an eating disorder. Through consultation, the Clinician will build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for children, youth, adults, and families. Being a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to individuals and families feeling confident in their ability to move through change and navigate recovery. This role will provide an opportunity to work with a collaborative and passionate team to support youth and families to meet their wellness goals.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.
  • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
• Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children, youth, adults and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Two years or more experience working with children, youth, adults and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services .
• Minimum one year experience providing family counselling services.
• Minimum one year of training and/or experience working with eating disorders (and/or practicum in eating disorders).
• Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is part time (0.5 FTE, 35 hours biweekly).
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future part-time and full-time permanent vacancies.
