Job Summary

The Team
The Kamloops North Shore Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) and Eating Disorders Program is an established team dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families in the region. The team includes mainstream CYMH clinicians providing general mental health services. In addition, the team offer specialized services including Eating Disorders and Early Psychosis Intervention services. Eating Disorders team is composed of two specialized clinicians offering eating disorder treatment, dietitian, pediatrician, and psychiatrist. This collaborative group is committed to delivering high-quality, client-centered care across the Kamloops North Shore and the broader Interior region, fostering a supportive environment where team members work together to meet the diverse needs of their clients.

The Role
As a CYMH Dietitian, you will provide specialized dietitian services to youth with eating disorders as part of a multidisciplinary Eating Disorders clinic, as well as to children and youth accessing CYMH services. Your expertise will support clients in achieving their health and recovery goals through tailored nutrition plans and collaborative care. This position offers the chance to work within a well-established program, making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people and their families across the Interior region.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian in good standing with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, or eligible to obtain membership with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia before accepting an offer of employment.
  • One (1) or more years of experience as a registered dietitian in a hospital, primary care, private practice, community, or long-term care setting.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
  • Experience providing client-centered nutrition care to children and youth.
  • Experience working with Eating Disorders youth.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Proviso/Willingness statements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  • Travel, as necessary, is a requirement; therefore, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Ministry.
  • May be required to travel to other communities within the Service Delivery Area.
  • May be required to travel in adverse (reasonable) weather conditions.
  • May be required to use your own vehicle, with appropriate insurance, on an expense account basis.
  • May be (on an occasional basis) be required to work flexible hours.
  • May be required to work with families, children and youth who are distressed and facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant situations or behaviour with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around parents and/or children in crisis who may display volatile behaviour.
