About the OpportunityStone Pacific is seeking a full-time Site Superintendent for a 5 to 6-month project from approximately April to September 2025. Based in Sooke, B.C, this role offers the exciting opportunity to live and work on beautiful Vancouver Island, about 30 minutes from Victoria. Shifts are a mix of days and overnights, 10-12hrs in duration, from 5-6 days a week.
Working closely with the Project Manager, you will be instrumental in coordinating site activities and leading field personnel to drive project success. In this role, you will oversee site safety, supervise crews, and manage the coordination of subtrades and suppliers, ensuring seamless execution of water main installation and related infrastructure work within contractual and budgetary requirements.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring site safety in accordance with WorkSafeBC and the Company Safety Manual
- Supervising and mentoring the crew
- Coordinating with subtrades, suppliers, and multiple stakeholders, including the Ministry of Highways and BC Hydro
- Managing project execution to meet contract, budget, and scheduling requirements
- Overseeing traffic control coordination, including setting up detours and ensuring safe work zones for night operations
- Scheduling and coordinating work around existing utilities, traffic controls, and other infrastructure constraints, with a strong focus on water main installation and related municipal infrastructure
- Conducting safety meetings, hazard assessments, and site orientations
- Complete, code and submit all required paperwork in a timely fashion, including daily field reports, timecards, extra work tracking, safety meetings, FLHAs, as-built drawings, packing slips and trucking slips
- Collaborating with engineers, inspectors, and utility providers to coordinate layouts, inspections, and approvals
- Attending meetings with management and stakeholders to review job progress, resolve challenges, and maintain alignment on project goals
To qualify, you will need a minimum of 10 years of relevant civil construction experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
The following are also required:
- Occupation First Aid - Level 1 or Intermediate First Aid is preferred
- Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5 or equivalent and a satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to run machinery including excavators, backhoes and loaders
Possessing any of the following education and experience is considered an asset:
- Water Distribution, level 1
- Class UR FSR (Hydro Raceway) Certification
- Gold Seal Certification
- AScT Accreditation
- CET

About the BenefitsIn exchange for your hard work and dedication, you will receive an hourly rate of $60-$65/hr as a subcontractor, or $40-$50/hr as an employee, negotiable dependent on experience, along with a great host of benefits, including:
