Job Description
Fantastic senior management opportunity with one of Vancouver’s most known and loved corporate brands. Leading, mentoring, and coaching a team of 10 Accountants (direct and indirect reports). Working in a fun-loving, high-performance, supportive, and humble corporate culture. Many people have worked with this company for a very long time due to the company’s values, the financial stability of the organization, and the opportunities for new learning and steady career growth over the years.
Who- the Company:
Our client is an admired, award-winning Vancouver-based company with a positive brand and reputation.
What- the Opportunity:
Senior Manager, Accounting. In this position, the successful candidate will manage the company’s Corporate Accounting, Tax, Investment, and related functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and the implementation of efficient strategies. Responsibilities also include overseeing the annual audit, supervising accounting, and ensuring compliance with IFRS, ASPE, and ASNPO. The Senior Manager will be tasked with developing and maintaining accounting policies, managing the GL system, addressing indirect tax matters, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This position involves leading, coaching, and mentoring an accounting team of 10 (mix of direct reports and indirect reports, including a Manager).
This role offers a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization’s financial processes and culture. Rest assured this will be a fun and fulfilling accounting role where you can really feel you are adding value!
Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking a CPA designated accounting & finance leader with a strong background in both public practice and industry (or possibly directly out of a public practice firm, if already at Senior Manager level). Expertise in IFRS is required, and additional experience with ASPE and ASNPO is preferred as the company reports under these standards across different entities. Experience implementing new IFRS standards (IFRS 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, etc.) is a significant asset!
The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, including the ability to write detailed accounting memos and apply their robust knowledge of financial reporting in a highly regulated environment. Experience in companies with strong internal controls is essential. Tax and investment experience is a nice-to-have, not required for a quick and willing learner.
Excellent leadership capabilities are a must, including experience managing teams of 6+ people (ideally leading a mix of managers and individual contributors) and the ability to coach and delegate effectively. The new Senior Manager will be able to review, correct, and improve the work of their team, ensuring high-quality output while fostering a supportive and efficient team dynamic.
Where:
Greater Vancouver (not in downtown Vancouver).
Hybrid work schedule- after training and onboarding, the Senior Manager can start to work from home 2 days a week. This company has a collaborative and friendly office environment and provides excellent employee amenities, including a fully equipped gym available free of charge for employees. Additional perks include bike lockers, EV charging, and free employe parking.
How Much:
The base salary for this role ranges from $115,000 to $150,000, with potential upwards flexibility for exceptional candidates who have all the desired qualifications. The company provides a robust performance-based bonus structure. Benefits include professional development support, customizable health benefits, a generous RRSP contribution from employer, and 4 weeks’ of paid vacation, plus additional paid time off.
Additionally, this company promotes healthy work/life integration for their employees- we are looking for a Senior Manager with a very strong work ethic and lots of accountability, of course, but they will not be expected to work around the clock like they might in some public practice or publicly-listed companies!
