Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. The transition from the RCMP to SPS is well underway and SPS has spent the past three years building a local, modern, accountable police service for Surrey residents. On November 29, 2024, SPS will become the police of jurisdiction, assuming responsibility for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Employee Services, the Manager, Human Resources is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing strategic human resources initiatives, including the development and implementation of comprehensive policies and procedures, change management initiatives and resource planning and deployment for civilian staff. Specific responsibilities include ensuring effective OHS, employee relations, recruitment, and selection (civilian), labour relations, training, and development programs (civilian), and HR services (compensation, benefits administration, pension, payroll, scheduling, etc.).

This is a challenging and dynamic opportunity for an experienced human resources manager and excellent people leader, who is committed to community service and human resources best practice. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree and/or training (in a related field) with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive human resources experience, including at least three (3) years in a management role. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated understanding of labour and employee relations, people practices and programs, policy development, and HR reporting while advancing employee wellness and engagement.

The salary range for this position is $142,797 - $167,997, in combination with a competitive total compensation package.
