We are honored to be partnering up with St George’s School in their search for their next Head of the Boarding Department.
St George’s is seeking a Head of the Boarding Department to create a vibrant and supportive environment for Grade 8-12 students. This pivotal role involves managing the daily operations of the boarding house, overseeing a dedicated team, and delivering exceptional pastoral care while integrating a strong co-curricular program. What You’ll Do:
- Serve as a member of the Senior School Leadership Team, contributing to school-wide initiatives and policies.
- Act as the advocate for boarding in school meetings and committees.
- Represent the boarding program locally and internationally.
- Oversee all aspects of the boarding program, ensuring adherence to national standards.
- Plan and manage a variety of events, trips, and activities for boarding students.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with parents and guardians.
- Develop and implement policies related to daily routines, supervision, and student wellbeing.
- Ensure the mental, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of students.
- Support students in engaging with academic and co-curricular programs.
- Manage disciplinary matters in alignment with school policies.
- Lead and mentor the boarding staff team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Organize regular staff meetings and implement professional development initiatives.
- Participate in boarding duties, including flexible hours, on-call availability, and holiday coverage.
- Teach one academic class or contribute equivalently to school programs.
- Participate in the co-curricular and advisory programs.
- Collaborate with operations and IT teams to ensure smooth functioning of the boarding house.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively.
What You Need:
- Extensive experience in boarding programs, including leadership responsibilities.
- Valid teaching certification and demonstrated teaching experience.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and lead teams effectively.
- Strong pastoral care skills with experience working with teenagers.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Skilled in managing change and effectively assessing risk.
- Proficient in team building and delivering impactful presentations.
- Inclusive and collaborative leadership style.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an empathetic approach.
- Additional assets include a valid driver’s license (Class 4 preferred) and certifications in Mental Health First Aid, First Aid, or Wilderness First Aid.
