Job Summary

The Team
The Capital Services Branch (CSB) is a well-established team of 16 staff, led by an Executive Director. You will work within a smaller team of three, reporting directly to a Director. CSB is responsible for guiding annual capital planning, budgeting, and reporting for the Ministry of Health. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with ministry staff and health authorities. Our team fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where members are approachable, collaborative, and committed to ensuring equitable solutions in health capital infrastructure planning for British Columbians.

The Role
The Capital Financial Analyst is a key role supporting the Capital Services Branch, providing financial and advisory services on various capital projects. This role directly impacts communities by facilitating the addition of critical medical equipment, renovating health facilities, and ensuring transparency through public financial reporting. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Commerce or Finance or related field and one (1) year of *related experience OR
  • Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce Finance, or a Financial Management Certificate Program or related field and two (2) years of *related experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered

Recent related experience must include each of the following:
  • Experience managing financial functions, including budget development, monitoring, forecasting, analysis and reporting
  • Financial reporting (including preparation of ad hoc analyses) utilizing financial systems and controls
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements
  • Intermediate level experience using Microsoft Office in a financial environment including spreadsheets, complex formulas, pivot tables and computerized financial systems


Preference statement(s)
  • Chartered Professional Accounting Designation, or applicants who are currently or previously enrolled in the CPA professional education program
  • Experience in capital asset management
  • Experience working in the public sector
  • Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
