Job Summary
The Team
At Courtenay Court Administration, we are a dedicated and collaborative team responsible for managing both Provincial and Supreme Court matters in British Columbia. Our team, including Court/Registry Clerks, a Registry Technician, Justice of the Peace, Deputy District Registrar and a Manager, plays a critical role in ensuring access to justice through a strong partnership with the judiciary and other justice partners. The Role
As the Administrator, Registry Operations, you will oversee technical, administrative, financial, and court recording services for Provincial and Supreme Court matters. Leading a team of six, you'll manage daily operations, performance expectations, leave coordination, and staff training on policies. The position also requires appointments as a Deputy District Registrar of the Supreme Court, Registrar of Small Claims, and a Justice of the Peace. Working closely with the Manager, Court Administration, and the leadership team in Region One, you'll ensure smooth registry operations while supporting access to justice for the community.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related discipline such as business administration, public administration or criminology or equivalent combination of education and work experience within the justice or legal system e.g., grade twelve (12) plus three (3) or more years of experience working in the justice or legal system.
- Must have or be able to qualify for an appointment as a Justice of the Peace in the Province of British Columbia.
- Must have or be able to complete the Deputy District Registrar certification program to be a DDR of the Supreme Court of British Columbia and Deputy Registrar of the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
- Minimum three (3) years related clerical/office experience or two (2) years of experience working with Court Registry related documentation and processes.
- Must have experience using computers and software programs e.g., Word, Excel.
PREFERENCES:
- Three (3) years' experience within the Court System (Court Administration/Sheriff Services).
- One (1) year as a Justice of the Peace.
- Experience using Civil and Criminal electronic tracking systems, JUSTIN, CEIS.
- One (1) year of leadership experience.
PROVISOS:
- May be required to travel.
- May be required to work flexible hours.
- May be required to work overtime.
- May be required to work in other areas of Court Services Branch.
- Will be required to work on a rotational schedule as late Justice of the Peace within the registry.
