The primary function of the Specialist-Health and Safety is to implement, manage and support the Best Buy Health and Safety Management System. Working at the Western Distribution Centre & Geek Squad City (Service Depot), this individual must demonstrate subject matter expertise and leadership skills to drive continual improvement within the OHS function.

Please note that this is an on-site position, with some local travel across the Lower Mainland.

As a Specialist-Health and Safety you will…

  • Identify, monitor, evaluate and track all OHS activities through audits and other record keeping methods.
  • Execute appropriate training to reduce hazards and the potential for accidents in the workplace.
  • Lead the full investigation on major accidents and incidents.
  • Lead the continuous improvement process to ensure OHS compliance.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to identify and address workplace risks and hazards.
  • Work with the Senior Manager to ensure that training programs are complaint to the provincial OHS regulations
  • Provide OHS knowledge, expertise and guidance to employees and key stakeholders.
  • Be the key company representative with Labour and Health authorities for all OHS related activities.
  • Lead all activities related to the organization’s participation in provincial certification/rebate programs e.g., BC COR, ON HSEP
  • Provide occasional support to Retail Stores in the B.C. lower mainland region.

The experience we need…

  • 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources or a related role. (Retail and/or Warehousing experience is an asset)
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, General sciences) is preferred

Annualized base pay range

$65,000.00 - $68,000.00

Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
