Software Developer (Beta Site Developer for UAT) (#62036)

Our private client has a requirement for Software Developer (Beta Site Developer for UAT) for one year contract opportunity. This position is hybrid (2-3 days onsite) and located in Kitchener-Waterloo area, ON.

Responsibilities:
    • Design, develop, and implement new websites and/or enhance existing sites to meet institute or sponsor requirements by writing new programming code and/or adapting existing website software and graphics packages.
    • Provide technical support to a broad user base to alleviate issues with any websites or applications that the group has developed and actively maintains.
    • Work within a cross-functional team to lay out and maintain content for all sites; perform work within coordinated cross-team efforts to meet tight deadlines and maintain production schedules.
    • Maintain existing websites and applications by updating code and modules, developing new functionality, and performing other maintenance as needed. This also requires staying abreast of software update cycles and new web development techniques and tools for strategic utilization.
    • Inform and guide creators and stakeholders as ideas evolve from concept to reality.
    • Triage and work with analytics team in managing the data.

Skills Required:
    • Strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals with experience creating with ReactJS, Next.js and Node.js
    • Demonstrated proficiency with database design and management for SQL, PostgreSQL databases.
    • Experience working with APIs, both integrating a third-party API and creating your own when necessary.
    • Ability to build custom REST API's
    • Experience with the Functional Programming paradigm is a plus.
    • Passion and versatility in learning and adopting new technologies.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting analytical and problem-solving skills

Skills Preferred:
    • Strong knowledge of QA methodology
    • Strong objected oriented design and coding skills
    • Coding experience with automated testing frameworks, tools, services and physical devices
    • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
    • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
    • Self-motivated and proactive in starting new tasks
    • Experience in agile or scrum software development methodologies
    • Experience using JIRA, Microsoft Office Applications (particularly Excel)

Experience Required:
    • 6+ Years' experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
    • 6+ Years experience working with Python/Django for working with backend services.

Education Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
