What- the Opportunity:
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Tax who will lead and mentor a small tax team. This is a very well-rounded leadership role involving strategic tax planning, global tax risk management, analyzing large-scale projects for tax costs, overseeing global tax developments, overseeing tax filings and compliance, monitoring corporate governance requirements, etc. Please note our client is also open to hiring a Manager, Global Tax, with opportunity for career development to Senior Manager level.

Who- the Candidate:

At least 8 years and ideally 10+ years progressive experience in taxation, including at least 5 years in International taxation (at a minimum US and Canadian tax)
CPA accounting designation (or International equivalent) is required.
In-depth Income Tax Course (all 3 levels) and/or a Master’s degree in Tax is very much preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
Training in a multi-national public practice firm up to Manager or Senior Manager level is highly preferred.
Experience working in the main corporate office of a global public company is highly preferred.
Systems: High level of proficiency in Excel is required, including financial modeling skills. Exposure to an ERP such as Oracle or SAP.
There are a lot of deadlines to juggle in this role; therefore, excellent time management and organizational skills along with a process improvement mindset are all crucial.
Top-notch communication skills are important- ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across many countries.

Where:
Headquartered in downtown Vancouver. Beautiful corporate offices with a great view! For the first couple months, the Senior Manager will work from the office 3 or 4 days a week as they establish relationships with their colleagues. Longer-term, the Sr Mgr can choose to work from home up 2 to 3 days a week on a hybrid schedule. Open to hiring a candidate who currently lives elsewhere in Canada but wants to move to Vancouver.

How Much:
There is quite a wide range on the base salary as it will be commensurate with relevant work experience, skills, education, and relevant tax credentials- $130,000 to $190,000 (the company is open to hiring either a Manager or a Senior Manager, based on experience).
