In this role, the successful candidate is needed to be in the greater Vancouver, BC area, where we practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you’ll do:
- Be the subject matter expert in revenue recognition, ensuring that information prepared is accurately presented in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Prepare deferred revenue annual budgets and assist with preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting disclosure schedules
- Be responsible for accounting activities related to Best Buy Membership offerings, deferred revenue calculation for various sales channels and fulfilment scenarios, gift cards breakage analysis, customer delivery margin and Marketplace seller services programs.
- Perform various month-end calculations and maintain accuracy, analyze large volumes of complex data, prepare and maintain schedules, templates, and data models relating to your specific area of accounting
- Execute periodic key assumptions review and revenue recognition model inputs update for Best Buy Membership offerings and gift cards breakage
- Review revenue contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and the company's revenue recognition policies
- Conduct US GAAP research in more complex areas of accounting (e.g. revenue recognition, vendor funding and leases), draft accounting position memos
- Work proactively across multiple business units to deliver informed results and identify and recommend opportunities for improvement
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience at a senior level in a medium to large organization
- Experience implementing change and improving existing systems and processes
- CPA designation or pursuing CPA or related accounting designation
- Strong background in the practical application of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition principles or IFRS 15
- Advanced MS Excel experience and strong systems aptitude
- Experience in SQL, Alteryx and BI tools is a bonus

Annualized base pay range
$90,000.00 - $92,000.00Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
