DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
TD Wealth National Office, Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain, and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation - across all Wealth Canada businesses - of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth National Office, G&C team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth Canada businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth Canada business line. The team works together with business leaders to implement Wealth-wide G&C methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise initiatives / programs requiring Wealth representation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the AVP, Controls, Testing & Issues Management this position will be responsible for supporting all TD Wealth Canada businesses in adherence to TD enterprise and regulatory requirements, managing risk and having effective operational controls in place. The position is expected to work with all TD Wealth Canada businesses and Wealth Control Partners to support the delivery of the Enterprise Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Program and Operational Risk Management (ORM) initiatives for Wealth.

- Works closely with AVPs in establishing effective RCM and Operational Risk Management oversight.
- Works closely with other Senior Managers within and between pillars, supporting the Wealth RCM, assessing Program Effectiveness and Control Effectiveness Assessments, helping Wealth achieve target operating model and regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding and promotes awareness of key operational risk frameworks/policies and risk appetite to support a strong risk culture.
- Prepares updates, communications, presentations and executive summaries for various Wealth and Enterprise forums, committees, and audiences.
- Collaborates within Governance & Control, Control Partners and Lines of Business to propose recommended changes to procedures to address potential gaps.
- Supports the implementation of governance and control processes to promote risk awareness, clear risk ownership within the business, and personal accountabilities.
- Maintains adequate governance documentation, procedures, and retains records for audit readiness.
- Creates detailed program plans, status reports and presents key highlights and related implications for business partners & leaders.
- Ensures production of necessary program documentation as agreed to by the Sponsor, Segment Lead and involved Stakeholders.
- Communicates program summary and status to various stakeholders.
- Proactively identifies and tracks program dependencies, risks and supports the team in developing mitigation plans to manage these risks.
- Fosters an environment and culture of risk management and compliance that encourages innovation, process improvement, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.
- Keeps Senior Management informed on the status/progress of key deliverables and/or other relevant information related to ongoing responsibilities.
- Cross trains on cross-functional activities within the group, to collaborate and support the achievement of the group's holistic outcomes.
- Effectively manages ad-hoc projects or tasks of varying complexities within established deadlines.
Job Requirements
Qualifications/Skills/Experience/Education
- The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of prior experience in financial services and have related experience in the Wealth business, regulatory environment, risk management, governance, and controls, as well as working in a project environment or delivering initiatives.
- Comfortable leading through transformational change and recognized as a champion for continuous improvement.
- University degree is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in writing policy and/or procedures and the ability to communicate information and key messages in a clear and compelling way to suit different audiences.
- Knowledge of change management principles, industry standards and methodologies, project management, organizational practices, and business transformation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, effectively interact, influence, and motivate individuals at all levels of the organization to make an impact.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.
- A logical and strategic thinker with strong critical reasoning skills.
- Self-motivated, resourceful team player with high energy and ability to work independently.
- Exceptional personal integrity to manage access to sensitive information.
- Knowledge of the Wealth businesses, processes, systems and controls.
- Proficiency in technical skills and using relevant software, MS Office, data analysis methods and reporting techniques.

- Ability to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment and prioritize competing priorities.
