The Team
The Engineering Branch is a collaborative and diverse team dedicated to ensuring a safe and sustainable provincial resource road network. Our team is made up of engineering and forestry professionals across three operational groups-Coast, North, and South Areas-along with Standards and Policy, and Finance and Management groups. Together, we balance industrial, commercial, and public road use with environmental stewardship, offering opportunities to work on a variety of impactful projects in a supportive and flexible environment.
The Role
The Area Engineer provides design and engineering services and applies expertise to ensure safe and sustainable infrastructure, with a focus on bridges and roads within the Natural Resource Sector. This position emphasizes independent judgment and decision-making, allowing you to make a tangible impact while contributing to an inclusive and collaborative team environment that values diverse perspectives and innovative solutions.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in Civil/Forest engineering or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
- Must be registered, or immediately* eligible for registration as a fully licensed Professional Engineer with Engineers & Geoscientists of BC.
*Immediately means you are currently a fully licensed registered Professional Engineer member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to EGBC.* - Valid Class 5 B.C driver's licence or ability to obtain one immediately.
- 5 years of recent (within the last 7 years) related engineering experience in infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
- Related engineering experience in project management of infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
- Field experience monitoring engineering practices and contract compliance.
Preference may be given to those applicants with the following:
- Five (5) years recent (within the last 7 years) engineering experience related to the Natural Resource Sector. Further preference may be given for more years of experience in this area.

- Must be willing and able to work in adverse outdoor conditions and terrain.
- Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
