Job Summary

The Team
The Network Operations team is a dynamic group of professionals who work both independently and collaboratively to ensure the smooth operation of government internet services. This established team consists of approximately seven staff, including Lead Application Support, Technical Architects, Application/Network Analysts, and two co-op employees. They work closely with teams across the Enterprise Services division, fostering a supportive environment where diverse skills and perspectives are valued.

The Role
As a Senior Application Technical Architect,you'll be responsible for integrating and managing technical architectures and platforms that support Network Connectivity Services (NCS). You'll lead projects to implement new network infrastructures and services, ensuring secure and efficient sharing of technology across the Provincial Data Network (SPANBC), which supports thousands of users, including government ministries and essential services like pharmacies and ambulance stations. This position is ideal for those looking for a fast-paced, challenging environment where your work directly impacts the availability of critical services for the citizens of British Columbia.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certification or higher or equivalent in the computer science field.
  • Experience in all aspects of application development using a System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern Software Engineering practices.
  • Experience with Domain Name Service (DNS) both Bind and Microsoft.
  • Experience with Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP).
  • Experience using Perl, JavaScript and Rest API.
  • Experience with the change and incident management processes.
  • Previous involvement in designing and implementing scalable and efficient network management integration solutions.
  • Experience in troubleshooting large complex environments.
  • Experience supervising staff and providing technical advice to work teams.


Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience working with network monitoring tools such as Appneta, AKIPS and InterMapper.
  • Experience with Juniper MIST, Velo Orchestrator, Cisco Jasper, CradlePoint portal, Starlink Portal & ServiceNow, both in operational use and in using Rest APIs for these applications

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
