You can effectively cope with change and "shift gears" comfortably. You speak clearly and concisely and can even be clearly understood when speaking on a "walkie talkie". With your strong mental acuity, you can stay alert while driving for long periods of time and have the ability to comply with policies and procedures. Your teacher was wrong, you found a fantastic way to get paid to stare out the window!

As our Gravel Truck Operator, you are responsible for the safe operation of a logging truck within our Kootenay operations. You love both your own company and having the opportunity to play with machinery, so operating for long hours under varying weather, site, terrain and road conditions, won't be a problem.

A day in the life of a Gravel Truck Operator includes:
  • Driving for long hours under varying weather, site, terrain and road condition safely.
  • Running a variety of heavy-duty equipment including, but not limited to loader, backhoe, cat-bulldozer D6, dump/gravel truck, grader and forklift, Plow truck operator in winter months
  • Preform pre-trip inspection and complete minor maintenance and repairs including fueling, lubing and washing truck
  • Loading and unloading of culverts, reading maps, orientation
  • Towing, inspection, and loading of trailers with supplies or equipment
  • Ability to use digital equipment for locating and managing work and accessing work priorities or direction
  • Manual field work (tree removal, sign and culvert placement and marking)
For this role you'll come equipped with:
  • Must Hold Class One Driver's License
  • Must be able to furnish proof of certifications/licenses and provide a drivers abstract
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot
  • Positive attitude and a self-starter
  • Able to work in an environment that may include exposure to weather, dust, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and noise.

NOTE: Cranbrook Office is the marshalling point.

The hourly rate for this position is: $36.83
