Front End Engineer

6-month contract Front End Engineer role helping to develop key experiences for their e-commerce website.  

• 6-month Front End Engineer, (React/next.js) contract role.
• Working with a large engineering team supporting a smaller product team.
• Global retail organization with hybrid work, 3 days a week in office.

As a result of growth and investment in technology our client is looking to add a front-end developer to one of their website scrum teams. This role is focused on building and optimizing the Product Detail Page experience, the key page where guests interact with and learn about individual products. You will lead the creation and implementation of intuitive, scalable, and performant UI components using technologies like React.js, Next.js, and GraphQL. You’ll ensure seamless integration with backend systems while maintaining high standards for accessibility, performance, and responsive design. This role requires deep expertise in web technologies, DevOps practices, and cloud-native development, with a strong focus on delivering reliable, engaging guest-facing features for their eCommerce platform. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a hybrid work environment with 3 days a week in office.  

You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

• 3+ years experience in React.js, Next.js, GraphQL, and/or micro frontends.
• Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space.
• Experience integrating web frontends with complex multi-tier applications.
• Proficiency in fundamental Devops practices and on call duties for maintaining guest facing web applications.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction be a self-starter with strong initiative, and ability to manage/execute workload to deliver high quality results.
• Advanced understanding of web technologies (HTTP, SSL, Headers, Cookies, TCP, Caching).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD principles and best practices
  Experience working with bug tracking and task management software such as JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.
• Demonstrated experience developing solutions for retail or eCommerce businesses and other relevant domains such as manufacturing & logistics, supply chain, or corporate shared services.

This role pays between $65-80 per hour incorporated.
