For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Engineering. Students with a background in Civil, Mining or Mechanical Engineering are preferred. This outstanding individual will assist the Project Development group and be responsible for supporting the delivery of an assigned technical scope of work for a study, project, or package. This exciting position will give you the outstanding opportunity to identify risks and opportunities to build value within the engineering team.

Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based).You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Salary Range: $4600 - $5800 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Assist with trade-off studies.
  • Assist in assembling technical scope of work for material and/or contract packages.
  • Participate in design reviews and workshops.
  • Provide support in the advancement of smart engineering, engineering sustainability through design, and the engineering overview process.
  • Support the development of the Scope of Work (SOW) for the Engineering Work Packages (EWP).
  • Attend weekly project update meetings and ensure minutes are kept and distributed.
  • Support site engineering and construction activities either from the home office or at site.
  • Sustain relationships with the Service Provider, Teck Project Development Group, and operating staff.
  • Coordinate engineering work between fields and between the engineering group and other project groups.
  • Support Team Leads in the preparation of technical decisions and information required to maintain the schedule.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in an engineering field (Civil, Mining, Mechanical ).
  • Basic understanding or curiosity about project controls, scope management, and quality management would be an asset.
  • Curiosity about project management systems and an understanding of multiple phases of project execution.
  • Able to work collaboratively in diversified teams.
  • Understanding of concepts of "fit for purpose" and "value engineering".
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work on several tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment.
  • Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand .
