The Opportunity:
WSP is seeking an 8- or 12-month Co-op student in the Electrical Engineering or Computer Science program to join our Systems Engineering Team with the Rail & Transit department for the May 2025 Term. The position is based in Vancouver and will be reporting to the Manager, Rail & Transit - Vancouver. This position will be responsible for supporting both heavy and light rail related projects and will work closely with a team of Systems Engineers to support the design, development, and management of complex rail systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both Systems Engineering and Project Management within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

What you can expect to do here:
- Assist in the gathering and analysis of requirements for complex rail systems.
- Support the development of system architectures and designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of system components.
- Assist in the development and execution of system testing plans.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input and feedback.
- Support project management activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Document system design and development processes.
- Continuously improve systems engineering and project management processes and procedures.
- Occasional laboratory, manufacturing environment, or site work may be required.
- Work outside of normal business hours to meet project deadlines may be required.
- Some travel may be required to support project activities.
What you'll bring to WSP:
Salary range (in British Columbia): $24/hr- $31.75/hr
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. What you'll bring to WSP:
- Enrolled in a Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Co-op program (preferably 3rd or 4th year students);
- Excellent academic record;
- Excellent technical, analytical writing, and presentation skills;
- Familiar with MS Office;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Experience with system engineering tools and methodologies is an asset;
- Knowledge of project management principles is an asset;
- Familiarity with programming languages is an asset;
- Strong communication skills verbally and written;
- Willingness to learn;
- And a proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams.
