About the Opportunity

TKDN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director of Capital and Housing role, based in Prince George, BC.

In this role, you will primarily oversee all aspects of the organization's capital projects and housing initiatives, ensuring strategic planning, project management, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will work closely with internal teams, government agencies, and external partners to develop and implement capital and housing strategies that support the organization's goals and objectives.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, prioritizing, and directing public works, housing, and capital projects
  • Working with consultants, engineers, and other professional services
  • Developing and implementing policies, bylaws, and compliance strategies
  • Preparing technical and administrative reports for project documentation
  • Managing the financial aspects including budgeting and funding proposals
  • Coordinating project resources, timelines, and workforce for efficient delivery
  • Ensuring safety standards and quality control are met in project execution
  • Reviewing and updating departmental plans and strategies annually

More About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience. Additionally, you will have 3+ years' land development and municipal planning experience, with 5+ years' supervisory experience in land development and municipal planning. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

The following are also required:

  • Ability to undergo a criminal record check 
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License & acceptable driver’s abstract 
  • Willingness and ability to work in the field and travel in-community per organization needs (~two weeks a month in high season)

The following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Understanding of Workers Compensation Board, federal, and provincial regulations
  • Proficiency in contracting, negotiating, and management
  • Expertise in finance, accounting, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capability to use multiple computer software programs, including Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules and travel to a remote community
  • Strong diplomatic skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management
