Are you someone who has a real passion for helping others? Are you a registered Dietitian looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Renal Clinic.

The Registered Dietitian provides nutrition care to renal clients through nutritional assessment, goal setting, intervention, and counseling of inpatients, outpatients, residents and/or community care clients according to the established policies, guidelines, procedures, protocols, standards, vision and values of the organization. The Registered Dietitian collaborates with members of the renal department health care team, and acts as a resource to other health professionals and the community.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest Acute Care facility within the Northern Health region, and a hub for specialized health services. It's also a teaching hospital:
• Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia.
• Hosts residents in UBC's Family Practice Residency Program
• Is a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions.
UHNBC has benefited from nearly $100 million in expansions, renovations and new equipment since 2001:
• Patient care addition with an expanded emergency room and updated ICU
• State-of-the-art maternal-child care centre (including a single room neonatal ICU)
• Facilities to accommodate undergraduate physician training
• MRI unit
UHNBC is also home to a cancer centre for Northern BC, featuring a wide range of cancer treatments including radiation therapy.

Qualfications
• Baccalaureate degree in Nutritional Science with a Major in Food and Nutrition from an
• accredited University.
• Completion of a dietetic internship recognized by Dietitians of Canada and College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
• Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
• Two years of clinical nutrition experience which includes one year working with renal clients in a health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training suitable to the facility or program is required.
• Valid BC driver's license for positions requiring travel.

Skills and Abilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical
• practitioners established by College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia and Dietitians of Canada.
• Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based Clinical Nutrition practice related to clinical areas.
• Comprehensive knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines roles in client care.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently, quickly and accurately within time limitations.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal.
• effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, leader and preceptor.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.

• Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas.
• Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

• Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information system.
