Job Summary

The Team
The Kamloops Child and Youth Mental Health Team is an established group of eight clinicians and one team lead providing mental health services to children and youth living in the community of Kamloops as well as children and youth in care of MCFD. This team works collaboratively with MCFD colleagues both locally and across BC, as well as with community partners such as Indigenous organizations, health authorities, and schools. This work serves to protect our most vulnerable and high-risk children and youth and their families, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care and support.

The Role
The Integrated Practice Clinician provides Child and Youth Mental Health services, including intake, assessment, and treatment, to children and youth in MCFD care. You will work together with colleagues and community partners to ensure seamless provision of services to support the mental health and well being of children, youth, and their families. This role provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with vulnerable youth with complex support needs.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Experience in providing direct interventions around the trauma-based behaviours of children and youth.
  • Experience providing a variety of outreach and community-based work-related activities.
  • Who have completed formal post-graduate trauma training focusing on neurodevelopment, and attachment such as: Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Child Trauma Academy), and/or the Complex Trauma Certificate (JIBC).
  • Who have completed training in infant mental health and parent-child relational interventions and assessment tools such as: Watch, Wait and Wonder, The Circle of Security, and the AMBIANCE-Brief measure.
  • Who have demonstrated experience facilitating presentations on trauma informed material to social workers, caregivers, educators, and other professionals involved in the care and treatment of complex children and youth.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
