This full-time position (40 hours per week) is based at the Douglas College Coquitlam Campus. It will require travel in the Lower Mainland and occasionally, Vancouver Island.

The Role
The Self-Employment Program ( SEP ) Business Advisor will work closely with WorkBC Case Managers to recruit and select SEP candidates as well as deliver training, maintain a client case-load and conduct follow-up and business coaching for all participants.

The Role
The Self-Employment Program ( SEP ) Business Advisor will work closely with WorkBC Case Managers to recruit and select SEP candidates as well as deliver training, maintain a client case-load and conduct follow-up and business coaching for all participants.
Responsibilities
•Deliver Orientation Sessions, follow-up interviews and assess businesses for eligibility to the program;
•Contribute to the decision committee to determine program acceptance;
•Facilitate Business Plan Development workshops and on-going coaching and mentoring;
•Assess viability of Business Plans and provide constructive feedback one-on-one to participants;
•Coordinate delivery of formal participant training, including confirmation of guest speakers
•Conduct on-going coaching sessions during Business Launch;
•Maintain records of participant progress in the database ( ICM );
•Participate in team project meetings; and
•Support Self Employment team to ensure targets and deliverables are met.
•You bring exceptional client service skills, proven coaching abilities, self-employment expertise along with the ability to pay attention to detail, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and maintain well documented records;
•A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
•Provincial Instructor's Diploma or equivalent is an asset;
•Current or previous self-employment experience;
•Creativity and passion for working with clients to secure sustainable self-employment opportunities;
•Knowledge of current local and regional economic conditions and labour market information;
•A coach-approach;
•Demonstrated ability to meet targeted outcomes;
•Strong organizational and time management skills;
•Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills;
•Ability to network with employers, business and industry and through professional associations;
•Established broad based employer network an asset;
•Proficiency in internet research, Microsoft Office, and social media;
•Proven ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team with capacity to take initiative and deal with changing priorities; and
•Access to a vehicle and valid BC Driver's license.
