Position Title: Bookkeeper   

Napa Auto Parts is a trusted name in the automotive parts industry, committed to delivering top-quality products and excellent customer service. We offer a wide range of replacement parts, accessories, supplies, tools, equipment and quality products to the consumer groups that make up our clientele, namely, repair shops, commercial fleet operators, professional mechanics, do-it-yourselfers, and automobile owners. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in Kamloops, BC.

Job Duties:

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services
  • Compile data from timesheets and output to biweekly payroll reports for submission to Ceridian
  • Prepare cheques for payroll, process annual T4 forms, and ensure the accuracy of CPP and other applicable deductions
  • Reconcile utilities, and other suppliers' balances and prepare cheques for timely payments
  • Keep financial records by systematically recording and organizing all financial transactions, maintain and balance various accounts in SAGE and TAMS
  • Establish accounts in SAGE by creating and setting up specific categories for monthly capital expenditures, trading expenses, and incomes
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial accounting regulations.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of bank statements, company credit card statements, and other General Ledger accounts using MS Excel and General Ledger accounts using MS Excel and SAGE
  • Prepare financial and accounting reports on demand of owner-associates

Skills requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field or completion of two years (first level) of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting) or courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk are required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant bookkeeping experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software SAGE is an asset
  • Knowledge of TAMS is an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Terms of employment: Full time/permanent; 32 hours per week.

Language requirements: English

Wage and Benefits: $35 per hour; 4% vacation renumeration pay.
