Job Summary

The Team
At Bilingual Team and the Deputy District Registrar Team (DDR), you'll join a well-established and cohesive group that plays a crucial role in supporting the court system. The Bilingual Team provides essential court services in French and English, while the DDR Team performs vital quasi-judicial duties, all with a strong commitment to collaboration, diversity, and ensuring equitable access to justice.

The Role
In this role, you'll be at the heart of the court system, providing essential technical and administrative support to the Judiciary, Registry staff, and Court Clerks in civil and family matters, while making a significant impact on litigants navigating their legal cases. As one of the two Bilingual Deputy District Registrars serving the province, you'll gain deep insights into the judicial process, apply your problem-solving skills, and contribute to an essential government service.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (e.g. GED).
  • Two (2) years' experience working in a legal environment, or 1 year experience working in Court Administration.
  • Experience using computers and software programs (e.g. Windows, MS Word, Excel).
  • Typing speed of a minimum of 40 wpm.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, writing, and reading French and English.
  • A combination of relevant experience, education and/or training may be considered.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Signing authority as a Deputy District Registrar.
  • More than one (1) year of experience working in Court Administration.
  • Experience working in Civil Programs.
  • Experience working in Civil Electronic Information System (CEIS).


Proviso/Willingness Statements:
• Must be able to qualify for signing authority as a Deputy District Registrar within 6 months of appointment to the position.
• May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
• May be required to work flexible hours on short notice, including varied shifts.
• May be required to work overtime on short notice.
• May be required to work in other areas of Court Services Branch.
• Union membership is required.

About this Position:
Amendment September 10: Posting closing date extended to September 24.
This position has full-time on-site requirements at the Ministry of the Attorney General office in New Westminster.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent opportunities.
